When to book a wedding photographer

Wedding Planning

Bride and groom wedding portraits in the gardens at Hatfield house

When to book a wedding photographer! The most common time to book your wedding photographer is when you have found your wedding venue and set your wedding date.

That being said wedding photography blog post can really help in the search for your wedding venue. There is a fair chance you will find your wedding photographer while looking for your wedding venue.

With weddings being planned up to 2-3 years in advance if your wedding date is a popular one you might want to get booking your wedding photographer as soon as possible. The most important part is to find a photographer who’s personality gels with your. One who’s work you love and who offers a package that suits your requirements.

The natural order of wedding planning I advise it to priorities the area’s that are important to you. If photography is high on your list in order to have a fair choice then booking your wedding photographer early will give you a wide choice.

Most photographers will only photograph 1 wedding a day (this is me!) We may limit the number we take on a year to offer our couples the best service and avoid burn out!.

Destination weddings are also very popular so this can limit our availability with travel days needed between weddings.

Below is an idea of the order to book your wedding suppliers.

Wedding Dress – (It can take anywhere between 6-9 months to get your wedding dress. Plus you may need to add in time for alterations) – for final fittings always have your wedding shoes & under wear you plan on wearing on the day.

Where are the best places to find a wedding photographer?

The obvious place is on-line, google, instagram, tick-tock, facebook. These can be a great place to put together an idea of what style of photography you are looking for. However, because your wedding photographer is the one wedding professional who spends more time with you than any other, you want to make sure you really get along with them.

Your wedding photographs job is to capture all the moments of your wedding day that you want to remember. Ensuring you are both working together and share the same vision will lead to you getting the best wedding photos. Meeting your wedding photographer ideally in person or at least over zoom is really important. Being able to communicate what you want and what you don’t want for your wedding and wedding photos is really important.
