Bride and groom portrait at Priory Barn Little Wymodley Hertfordshire

Priory Barns in Little Wymondley is an exclusive barn wedding venue, Rebecca & Dhyuman fell in love with the venue at first sight.

It was such a pleasure being part of Rebecca & Dhyuman’s wedding day. I loved the fusion of British and Indian cultures and how they brought them both together for their wedding day.

The wedding colour scheme was influenced by the India flag and I loved the beautiful burnt orange colour of the Bridesmaids dress and grooms mens ties.

Our day started with both Rebecca & Dhyuman getting ready at the Cromwell Hotel in Stevenage. Because I could easily go between them both this allowed me to get photographs of them both getting ready without the additional cost of a second photographer.

The intimate wedding ceremony was beautiful with personal readings and Rebecca’s sister giving the rings. Sam Lewis was on hand to entertain everyone during the signing of the register and knowing Rebecca’s sister loved to sing invited her to join him. A really lovely moment for everyone.

Just as the ceremony was ending the Great British Weather didn’t quite get the memo to be dry at 2pm … So with the heavens opened we used the barn for the large family group photos. Within a few minuets of us completing I looked outside to see the weather had dried up and we all go to go outside and enjoy the summer sun.

We enjoyed a wonderful wedding breakfast and personal speeches.

I loved whisking Rebecca and Dhyuman away for a short walk to reminisce on their day so far and give them some time together, while I created some beautiful portraits of them.

Because of Dhyuman’s Indian heritage the incorporation of Bollywood Dancers was a great highlight and really got the party started.

Kind words from Rebecca & Dhyuman

”We met Julia at the Hatfield House wedding fair. We were instantly drawn in by Julia’s friendliness and way of engaging with us. She was very friendly and explained to us the importance of having a wedding photographer, along with showing her works. As with any other wedding couple, we kept looking round and seeing who else we could go with, just to compare options, but ultimately our photographer choices always led back to Julia

We arranged a zoom call and booked her as our photographer. What an exciting moment. We were so excited we booked Julia for our engagement shoot – to build up the relationship and get to know her more before the big day – This was one of the best decisions we made…not only did we get some Amazing memories for our engagement but also we connected with Julia on a more personal level, allowing us to feel super reassured ahead of our big day.

When our wedding day came around of all of the suppliers, we worried least about Julia and rightly so! When Julia turned up, not only did she take the photos, but from the moment she met us in the hotel whilst getting ready, she was helping to ensure a calm environment, helping us get our outfits on, showing the men how to do their ties and buttonholes…the list goes on. She was more than just a photographer for the day.

We were worried we would be pulled away too much for photos and not be able to properly enjoy the day but this was the complete opposite. Julia took photos whilst we were enjoying our day, candid style! But also, when it was our turn to be whisked away for photos, it was done in such an orderly fashion that it didn’t feel that we missed anything. If anything it was a breathe of fresh air we needed together.

Plus taking all the photos were super fun! Even for the family photos, Julia made sure to include everyone we had asked her too, and even added extras for us. Julia did such a great job and even all of our guests gave compliments! After the wedding Julia even shared a small selection of photos with us to use to show to the family etc, before seeing the whole collection which was just a whole different story…we were lost for words. They were more perfect than we would ever have imagined. Could not fault the photography skills at all. Different backgrounds, different types of shots, black and white, natural, candid, just everything you could ever dream off. We truly thank Julia for everything she did for us and will be suggesting her services to anyone and everyone who asks – we literally could not of had anyone better!

I think one of the top memories had to be the smoke bombs! We had asked Julia to help us get some smoke bombs for use in a picture as we thought it would look nice…and it did…but as with any UK wedding (Even mid summer) the wind was not on our side. We tried the smoke bombs and it was so funny, such a memory that we cannot forget! It was something special – thanks Julia for helping us with that! Oh and one more memory and tip…whatever you want, Julia will do whatever she can to get that shot. Oh and we mean laying on the floor, hiding in trees, climbing on ladders. Going all out – we found it so funny but was loving it at the same time!

To future couples planning a wedding we would say, if you go to wedding fairs (which you 100% should) then if you fall in love with a supplier there, trust your gut! We spent months looking round, for our venue after seeing the first one as we thought we should not book it as it was the first one we saw. Likewise with the photographer, videographer, band…looking for alternatives. And of course, there is nothing wrong with that, but if you get that gut instinct that you just fall in love with someone/something and how they work…book it! you will not regret!”
