Why have a pre-wedding Photo shoot?
I am often asked by couples why they should have a pre-wedding photo shoot? My short answer is why not? .. The longer one is a little more in depth.. I will try and keep it short!
You have just embarked on the most momentous step in committing yourself to each other so lets celebrate with some lasting magical memories.. its fun, you get to spend time with the one you love and most of all you get to experience what its like to be photographed by a professional.
Wedding days are full of highly charged emotions, you want the day to be perfect and the memories to be amazing .. having a pre-wedding shoot gives you the opportunity to get to know your photographer as well as posing and how to relax in front of the camera and be yourselves …
Nikki and Ryan have kindly shared their thoughts so please don’t just take my word for it ….
We met when we were 15 through mutual friends, got to know each other by frequenting various house parties and gigs at The Pioneer, and the rest is history! We have been pretty much inseparable ever since, and even Ryan heading off to Uni in Bristol couldn’t keep us apart! Fast-forward 13 years and our mutual love of travelling found us back in Bangkok (the destination of our first holiday together when we were 17). After a wonderful day spent shopping and re-exploring a city we both love, Ryan got down on one knee and asked me that very special question – and of course I said yes!! Even after 13 years, he managed to take me completely by surprise, and I can honestly say it was the most perfect moment!
Poppy became a big little part of our lives on the 21st December 2016. We had wanted to add a little furry person to our family since we moved in together, and after months of searching for the perfect puppy, we travelled down to Bournemouth to meet a breeder and whilst there I think it’s fair to say Poppy chose us! It was love at first sight, and we really have become a little family. When Ryan proposed, we both knew straight away that we couldn’t possibly get married without Poppy being a part of our day, starting with our pre-wedding photoshoot!
About Julia:- We first heard of Julia when we saw a blog post she had done on our wedding venue. We loved the photos, and contacting her was on our list of things to do. As fate would have it we attended a wedding fair at Hatfield House, and there we met Julia in person. We met several photographers that day, but instantly felt a connection with Julia – she was warm, friendly, and non-pressuring which was such a breath of fresh air from everyone else we had met!! Booking Julia was super easy, she gave us all the information we needed and we knew straight away we have made made the right choice!
Both Ryan and myself were a little apprehensive ahead of our pre-wedding shoot – neither of us enjoy having our photo taken and we were worried it would be awkward and feel really forced. We chose to have our photos at our favourite spot in the Dunstable Downs – a place we have been going to since Ryan passed his driving test. Julia put us at ease straight away – she asked all the right questions, quickly getting to know us (and Poppy) and within a couple of photos we had completely relaxed and the time flew by! We both agreed that we had genuinely enjoyed our afternoon, something which neither of us had expected! The pictures certainly did not disappoint, and I think our only complaint is that is it going to be almost impossible to choose our favourites!!
We are so glad we found Julia and cannot wait to have her share our special day next year! Thank you!!
Below are some of the memories of our afternoon and the adorable Poppy who is most certainly going to be a little Star at wedding…
