St Paul's Wedding London

London Wedding of Lucy & Joe

I don’t think I have ever had a wedding couple with such determination to get married in the face of such adversity!. Covid may have brought the World to a spinning halt, but not these two. Love would conquer here!

I’ll start at the beginning. I met Lucy’s parents at the end of 2019, when they were assisting Lucy and Joe with their wedding planning. We had a long chat and they loved my work so passed on my details. In the early part of 2020 I met Lucy and Joe and they went ahead and booked with me. Little did we know back in January the roller coaster ride we would be on.

I always advise having a pre-wedding meeting at the venue, more so for my couples than for me. It’s an opportunity for me to pass on my thoughts for how the day will run. Get insight to what couples want and get to know each other better. Well back in the early part of 2020 we did this, little did we know the planned 200 wedding guests would be drastically reduced. That the plan would change 3 or 4 times (I think I lost count!). But throughout the determination for Lucy and Joe and their parents to have their London Wedding never wavered.

On the day

With an intimate wedding of immediate family Lucy and Joe were married at the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) in London. Followed by a reception meal at the RAF Club in Piccadilly.

We may have gone from a 200 wedding guest list to 17, but all I can say is we had the most amazing day. I am by my very nature a positive person, so when Lucy and Joe said they were going to have a Horse and Carriage I was very excited. It was great to suggest something that in a normal wedding day we would never have achieved. We got to have a wonderful horse and carriage ride around the sights of London. With beaming faces of on-lookers as we went passed and seeing the sights of London it was amazing. I am sure the few number of tourists in London at the time may have thought they were Royalty with Joe in his uniform.

With the help of the Metropolitan Police, we stopped traffic outside St Paul’s Cathedral, while I lay in the middle of the road!. I will never forget the looks on peoples faces.

So while Covid may have changed the plans it certainly did not spoil the day or lessen the joy and significance of the occasion.

Some Kind words from Lucy & Joe

Julia did a fantastic job at our wedding in August. Due to Covid, we had to change our plans several times as the rules on weddings were constantly altered by the Government.

Each time we changed the plans, Julia was there to support us and helped come up with ideas to make the day as special as possible, even without the majority of our guests.

Thanks to her suggestion, we had an amazing carriage ride around London. Julia followed in her car and jumped out to take photos of us at landmarks such as St Paul’s Cathedral, the Royal Courts of Justice and Buckingham Palace. We will never forget the moment when a police van positioned itself in the road to block traffic so that Julia, who was lying in the road at the time, could get a shot of us outside St Paul’s!

The photos of this trip, and of the day in general, are beautiful. We are incredibly grateful to Julia for all her help. We would definitely recommend her!
