Why you choose Hillfields Farm as your wedding venue?
We wanted a countryside barn venue which is what led us to view Hillfields, and we completely fell in love with it the moment we stepped out of the car on our first visit. The countryside views are gorgeous, the barns are beautiful, and being dog friendly was an added bonus! Becky, Kelly and everyone else we encountered at Hillfields were so welcoming, helpful and accommodating from the moment we booked the venue 2 years ago.
Best memory of your wedding day
Amy: The ceremony! I’d thought I’d just want to get through the ceremony to move onto the party. But actually I loved it so so much. It just felt like Dom, me and the vicar in this really special moment, I was barely aware of anyone else being there.
Dom: Our first dance. We secretly had dance lessons for a couple of months before the wedding. We had a fully choreographed dance that none of the guests knew about until it happened.
Any advice to future couples planning a wedding
Map out your schedule for planning so you know what needs to be done by when. We got a bit behind on our table plans which meant we ended up in a mad rush getting the table plan printed and name cards sorted in the couple of weeks before the big day.
Anything you would change.
With Hillfields being so dog friendly, we had our two beagles Indy and Baloo staying with us in the on-site accommodation for the whole weekend, including the morning and night of the wedding. In hindsight, it would’ve made our day slightly easier to have had our dogs looked after elsewhere on the day so we could have got a better night’s sleep the night before.

Hiring Julia was the easiest choice we had to make in our whole wedding planning process. We first met Julia at my sister’s wedding in 2017 so we saw how well she orchestrated the group photos and how lovely she was with everyone. We were so relieved when you said you were available for our wedding day!
We had an engagement photo shoot a year before the wedding which was great for getting to know Julia better and also showed off how well she worked with our dog (even bringing some dog treats!) knowing that we wanted him in some photos on the wedding day.
On the day, Julia was so organised and had planned where she needed to be at every moment of the day (or at least that’s what it felt like). Julia worked so hard to get all the photos that we wanted of us and our families, despite some tricky weather with it going from far too hot to far too wet! And she helped with so many little details as well, like doing the pocket squares for Dom and his groomsmen to make sure everything looked perfect.
Our photos are so beautiful, Julia you captured so many special moments of the day. It’s going to be very difficult to choose which ones to display. We might need to buy a bigger house so we have more space on the walls!
