Going the extra mile is something that I always do at my weddings … but flying all the way to Canada for Georgie + Steve’s wedding takes this to a whole new level.
To say I was excited is a little of an understatement! Having photographed Georgie’s Sisters (Abby + Ettan) wedding a few years earlier, I was honoured to be invited to Canada where Georgie + Steve live.
Steve’s family home was the location for the wedding, with an outdoor ceremony planned overlooking the most spectacular “pond!” .. (more like a lake!). The weather was challenging on the morning of the wedding you can picture the scene of the groomsman on the tractor laying out hay bales for guests to sit on during the ceremony.. only for them to franticly go around covering them so they didn’t get wet….
In the morning Georgie and her bridal party got ready at a local farm house, the excitement for the day ahead was wonderful and the love very tangible… I will never forget Georgie’s Dads reaction to seeing his beautiful daughter in her wedding dress and the proud look on her mums face as she watched on. The bond of Abby and her sister Georgie even though the Atlantic is between them is so close and wonderful to see.
We were however, very blessed that the weather cleared in time for the ceremony .. so with guests arriving on an old school bus and the grooms man arriving on the back of a trailor being pulled by the tractor .. the scene was set for Georgie and her bridal party arrival.
The Lake made the perfect backdrop to our family portraits and group photographs, before it was time to have some fun with the bridal party.
A huge marquee was set up in the garden and was perfect for the evening reception.. I don’t think I have had a wedding so relaxed and fun, everyone was so warm and welcoming.
There are many highlights but when Abby & Ettan played the song they had written for Georgie + Steve I don’t think there was a dry eye in the marquee… it was so beautiful to witness the total sisterly love these girls have for each other.
I thank Georgie + Steve’s families from the bottom of my heart for making me feel so welcome and to Abby and Ettan, thank you for searching me out for your wedding day and inviting me to Canada, memories I will forever treasure … I really do have the best job in the World.

“We first met Julia when photographing Georgie’s sisters wedding back in 2016 in the UK. As soon as we saw her bubbly personality we knew it was going to be fun day. Fast forward a year and Julia did baby pictures for Georgie’s first niece, needless to say by this point Julia had become part of the family.
When Abby and Ettan surprised us with bringing Julia to Canada to shoot our wedding it was the best gift ever, she made us feel so relaxed and was the cherry on top of the icing for our big day.
My best memory of the day was reaching the top of the aisle and seeing Steve’s face realising that this is my future, also when my niece didn’t want to have her picture taken and my whole wedding party broke out into song of Baby shark. My advice to other brides is enjoy every minute of the preparation and the day, there is no need to get stressed out everything will be the way you imagined it to be and more. Take a second to step back and look at everyone that has come to celebrate your future because there is not many occasions that you will have all of these people in the same place at the same time again, and finally enjoy your day the best way you know how. ”
Below are just a few of the beautiful moments captured for the most wonderful of days .. I hope you enjoy.
