Summer Wedding at Knebworth Barns

Barn Wedding Hertfordshire

It is very hard to convey just how very special this couple are … from the first time I met Alex & Peter at Knebworth Barns Wedding Fair I knew their wedding was going to be a beautiful one.  Not only did they put a lot of thought and time into all the detailing the warmth and generosity of their love for their friends and family was amazing to be a part of.
It was always Alex’s dream to have their wedding outside, but at the risk of disappointment Peter said no to it and instead put a plan in place that he would surprise Alex if the day was a perfect as it was, this was just the start of many thoughtful and caring moments throughout the day.  We were truly blessed with an amazing day not only did the weather hold for a beautiful outside ceremony we were able to enjoy so many of the photographic opportunities Knebworth Barns has to offer.
Alex and Peter were a joy to work with their love of each other shone thought and capturing this was a true pleasure.  I cannot thank Alex and Peter enough for making me feel so welcome, they have kindly shared the suppliers who helped create their vision and some beautiful comments on myself for which I am eternally grateful.
I hope you will enjoy looking at this stunning wedding …

We first met Julia at Knebworth Barns Wedding Fair – we have spoken to several other photographers that evening but nobody else even came close. We loved Julia from the first moment we met her – she put us both at ease, was lovely to talk to, professional and we loved her work. She is an excellent photographer – not only incredibly good at what she does but also an exceptional lady – she has captured the essence of our big day perfectly. All the little details, range of emotions and all the unforgettable moments that made our day so special for my husband and I – Julia doesn’t just take photos, she creates a story…  It’s not only Julia’s talent and professionalism, which stands out undisputedly but her enthusiasm, warm and friendly character, patience and ability to capture the atmosphere of the occasion – all this is what made her perfect for us.  On our wedding day it was like having a friend there with us and as if we knew each other for years – the result was one relaxed and happy couple and photos that beautifully captured who we are, our families and a most perfect day we could have ever imagined… Julia is simply amazing – she ‘got’ us, she is fun, generous with her time and energy and genuinely loves what she does! Little crazy – in the best possible way! – she even laid down on the grass to capture our reflection in a pond! 🙂 If that’s not dedication – I don’t know what is!! She has captured so many wonderful moments – even those that we missed! We can honestly say working with Jules is an absolute pleasure – looking at our photos we get to re-live our wedding, the fun and the love of our families and friends celebrating – memories we will cherish and treasure forever!

Why we chose Knebworth Barns for our wedding venue…

After few disappointments of searching for a perfect unusual place and getting nowhere at the time – my dear husband to be made a list of all the licenced Barns in all surrounding counties 🙂 As we were looking for a unique, quirky setting for our wedding after we’ve seen the interior of beautifully restored 16th century Tithe Barns the decision was made – not to mention that they were the best value for money compared to other places we’ve looked at. It also helped that Knebworth House was a place already attached to our hearts – we’d spent quite a few lovely family days out there over previous years. Memories of walking through their beautiful gardens with my mum and auntie when they first visited England, hiding in the maze when my son was little, watching the deer roaming on the green and exploring the dinosaur park with my step-daughters during jousting festival put Knebworth on the top of the list. The garden gazebo, in which we got married was a perfect setting for a romantic ceremony. The out-door ceremony arranged by my wonderful husband – was very touching, most amazing and totally unexpected surprise. Martin was in charge on the day of making sure all runs smoothly and he did an incredible job, cannot fault him…

Best memory of our wedding day…

There are far too many to choose from as the whole day was just brilliant and perfect and there isn’t just one memory that makes it for me…

I guess it was the atmosphere of the day – being surrounded by smiling loved ones and seeing them all come together with such joy on that special day when I married the man of my dreams – is a something I’ll treasure forever! Peter and I took a walk alone together after our ceremony and group photos – sure, we were tailed by our lovely photographer and videographer, but they mostly just lurked behind us while we walked, chatted and held hands and were like “WOW, DID THAT JUST HAPPEN – WE’RE MARRIED NOW?” – we even joked about disappearing for longer and heading for the cinema to have some quiet time 🙂 -the two of us being together, it’s was a reminder that beyond the big event it’s all about the love between us. And then there was finding out that we were getting married in a garden gazebo on the morning of our wedding – I was so touched by that gesture and full of appreciation; walking down the aisle with my dad and finally seeing Peter’s face smiling at me; watching him talk to guests from across the room…  And something else, the fact that so many of our friends wanted to be involved in hand-making things for us to complete our setting; it warmed my heart, that so many contributed to our day in such unique personal ways.

Obviously, it was important to me that when we got married, my wife was happy, and a relief that things generally went smooth. The ceremony and the speeches still stick out to me as the memorable moments, though, the feeling I felt when people actually laughed and cried at my speech 🙂 I sweated over that speech for weeks! Getting to choose the music and listen to it all night long. And then, I just have all these little moments – I remember the first look really vividly – Alex in her dress walking with her dad towards me smiling. I have this image in my head — at that point, when she was about to become my wife — she looked beautiful just beaming at me with a radiant smile; then our walk together after the ceremony I remember that it took us out of the craziness of all the wedding stuff and despite being dressed up we felt a relaxed, “normal” feeling. Seems inconsequential compared to some of the big moments you go through on your wedding day. But they’re moments I remember because they just filled me with so much love. I wanted our wedding day to be about “the two of us” and not other people and it turned out to be just right.

Anything we would change…The feeling of how quick a wedding goes by still sticks out. Just to find a way to slow down the day long enough to process and keep our memories, to take it all in… It’s such an emotional, overwhelming day and it’s over in a blink, so step away for a moment or two and give your mind a quiet moment and an opportunity to absorb it more –  we managed it mostly but I think, it’s actually worth asking a trusted friend to keep reminding you to do this several times during your wedding day 🙂 And we really value all the pictures, videos and things to remember it by.

To sum it up – the whole thing was pretty amazing!
