It feels very appropriate to be writing about Abby and Peters beautiful wedding at the Gims Dyke today, as 20 years ago on the 22nd May I photographed my very 1st wedding in the UK and the Grims Dyke was the perfect setting back then as it was in April of this year for Abby and Peter.
The Grims Dyke is a stunning country house venue set in the most beautiful woodland scene and not far outside London with its famous designer R. Norman Shaw and later owned by W.S Gilbert it is full of history too.
When Abby and Peter asked me to photograph their wedding I knew we were going to have the most beautiful of days with their alternative wedding breakfast afternoon tea and Proscecco truck arriving in the early even they really wanted a relaxed fun day and we sure had that.
Abby and Peter have kindly shared some words as they look back on their wedding day.
“We chose Grim’s Dyke for our wedding day, as the moment we entered we couldn’t have felt more welcome and accommodated for. The cherry on top was that it was in such a beautiful setting. As our budget was modest and we love cake, we opted for an Afternoon Tea Wedding and a buffet in the evening, which Grim’s Dyke personalised completely to our taste. The food is incredible, the staff are friendly and personable and the venue itself is stunning – what is not to like?! “
“We met Jules at the wedding fair in St Albans Arena. We loved her natural photography style and her enthusiasm for our wedding day was enthralling. We were so chuffed as when we met Jules for our pre-wedding meeting, we really bonded over our love of The Grym’s Dyke Hotel, our venue, and knew she would be perfect for the job. I hate having my photo taken, as does my mum and Jules really put us at ease on the day and made us feel like we’d known her for years. She knew the venue back to front and all the secret places that would make a beautiful photo. We are so happy with our final photos – they are beautiful.”
Best memory of our wedding day was Our first dance, we had put together a choreographed routine which was lovely to perform in front of our friends and family and everyone loved it.
