There are some wedding days that seem to have everything, and this glorious May wedding at Knebworth Barns was certainly one of them. From sunshine-filled preparations to a spectacular golden-hour sunset, every part of the day felt effortlessly magical.
The celebrations began at the newly available Farmers Cottage, nestled within the grounds of Knebworth House and Barns. This charming cottage provided the perfect setting for the bridal party to spend a relaxed morning getting ready together. Filled with excitement, laughter, and a few happy tears, it was a wonderful way to start the day before making the short journey across the grounds to the ceremony.
The weather could not have been more perfect. Spring had well and truly arrived, and the beautiful gardens surrounding Knebworth House were bursting with colour and life. The sunshine created a stunning backdrop throughout the day and allowed guests to fully enjoy the spectacular grounds.
The Manor Barn | Knebworth Barn Wedding
The civil ceremony took place inside the Manor Barns, where family and friends gathered to witness an emotional and heartfelt exchange of vows. The historic character of the barns provided a beautiful setting, full of warmth and charm, making the perfect space for this special moment.
Following the ceremony, the team transformed the Manor Barns for the wedding breakfast. Guests were welcomed back into a beautifully styled reception space, enhanced by elegant spring blossom trees that added a romantic and seasonal touch. The soft floral décor perfectly complemented the surroundings and created an inviting atmosphere for the celebrations ahead.
One of the most memorable details of the day was the wonderfully quirky wedding cake. Colin and Connie the Caterpillar made a surprise appearance, bringing plenty of smiles and laughter from guests. It was a fun and personal touch that reflected the couple’s sense of humour and added a unique twist to the festivities.
While guests enjoyed drinks and celebrations, we took advantage of the stunning grounds for photographs. Family groups gathered in the gardens, surrounded by vibrant spring blooms and immaculate landscaping. The couple then enjoyed a quiet stroll through the grounds together, creating some truly beautiful portraits with the historic Knebworth House standing proudly in the background.
One of the highlights of the portrait session was undoubtedly the breathtaking wisteria, which was in full bloom and provided a stunning splash of colour. Combined with the grandeur of the house and the beauty of the gardens, it created a series of timeless images that perfectly captured the romance of the day.
Evening Celebrations
As the evening celebrations began, DJ and Master of Ceremonies Ian from So Disco ensured everything ran seamlessly. From keeping the day flowing smoothly to creating an incredible atmosphere on the dance floor, Ian looked after guests from start to finish. His energy, professionalism, and entertainment kept everyone engaged throughout the evening and helped create a truly unforgettable party.
The celebrations continued late into the night, but not before nature provided one final gift. As the sun began to set, we slipped away for some golden-hour portraits. The warm evening light bathed the gardens in a beautiful glow, creating some truly magical images. As the sky turned to shades of gold and pink, we captured a series of romantic sunset portraits that provided the perfect ending to an incredible wedding day.
From the relaxed morning preparations at Farmers Cottage to the unforgettable sunset, this Knebworth Barns wedding was filled with joy, laughter, beautiful details, and wonderful memories. It was a privilege to capture every moment and tell the story of such a fantastic celebration.
Kind words from Abbie & Ross
There are not enough words to explain how grateful we are for Julia and the incredible photos she has taken of our special day! As someone who is not very confident in front of a camera, Julia made us feel comfortable throughout the whole day. Julia knew where all the best spots were around our venue to take the most perfect photos. We had looked at some of Julias previous wedding photos on social media and the sunset shots were the reason we were drawn into choosing her for our day and we were so lucky to have such a beautiful sunset on our day! We absolutely love our photos and how Julia captured all the different emotions shown throughout our day.
We will forever be grateful for having these amazing memories captured in such beautiful photos. We would highly recommend Julia to anyone who is looking for a photographer.
